The ones who called onto the Sisterhood
Conception of Zanaan
After years of intending and trying to get together, the Universe and their propensity to seek spaces filled with faith in love, brought Sheetal (Gulnaar) and Shubham together one December evening at Sheetal’s home in Bombay in 2019. As the pink and golden setting sun washed them in its warmth and pearly white Herons majestically started landing home at the tree in front of them, they poured their hearts and eyes out to each other. At one point,
Sheetal said, “I want to create a space where we can honour this sacred grief surrounded by our powerful sisterhood. I want to hold my sisters in the protection and Power of their sisterhood and show up for my sisters. I want to show up for our sisterhood. Call onto them, remind them of who they are. So together, we finally stand rooted in our truth… our depth, our tender moistness, Our valiant vulnerability and our Wild Proud Power. I want to call onto the sisters. I cannot take this anymore. I have a name for it. I want to call it Zanaan. The Kashmiri Word for Women. “
To this, After resonating throughout, Shubham said one word, which made clear the path ahead, “WHEN ?”
Two Months Later, Nine Goddesses commenced the First Sacred Circle of the First Zanaan Retreat.
Since then the Sisterhood has only grown, with sister from around the world joining in along with the ally brothers. Today, Sheetal and Shubham, known as the Original Zanaaniz (the OG Zanaaniz), cannot be prouder Mothers of this sisterhood that has become a safe space and home for women on the path of remembering, rewilding and awakening their Authentic Sacred Goddess Selves. Exactly what it was born to be.
